Eagles News · Wrestlers remain perfect, edge Show Low

ALA Gilbert North Varsity Wrestling improved to 10-0 on the season in dual meets with a slim 39-33 victory over visiting Show Low Wednesday night.

Things did not look good for the Eagles early as Show Low dominated the lower weight classes. Show Low won 6 of the first 7 matches building a 33-6 lead. The lone victory came from Gage Ryan who pinned his opponent at 126 pounds.

Tyton Slade started changing the momentum for the Eagles with a 9-2 win where he looked in control the entire match. Trevor Tenney followed up with a surgical 8-2 victory, and now ALA was heading into their strength. Broden Harrold and Nash Jobe both pinned their opponents and Hunter Garrison won by forfeit. The deficit was now cut to 33-30 heading into the two final matches.

Bric Jobe pulled off a gutsy 7-6 victory at 220 despite several blood stoppages and injury timeouts. The match was now tied as a confident Seth McAfee stepped onto the mat and quickly pinned his opponent sealing the dual win for the Eagles.

ALA GN Varsity Wrestling is next in action on Friday, hosting Payson at 5pm. Their JV hosts Ben Franklin on Thursday at 4pm.
